An impact window is a window built to be hit. Two panes of glass are bonded to a clear inner layer and set in a reinforced aluminium frame, so when a roof tile or a branch comes through at 140 mph the glass cracks but stays in the opening. The opening is what matters. Once wind gets inside a house it lifts the roof from underneath.

In Naples that is not a preference. Collier County sits in a 150 mph design-wind-speed zone and the Florida Building Code requires every opening protected.

  • Laminated impact glass. Two panes bonded to a PVB interlayer.
  • Insulated laminated. Adds an air gap for a lower U-factor and a quieter room.
  • Low-E coating. Cuts solar heat gain.
  • Aluminium frame. Thinner sightlines and larger spans.
  • Vinyl frame. Better thermal number and usually less per opening.

Frame finishes are specified per elevation, so the street side and the lanai do not have to match. Choose white, linen, almond, sandstone, oak, walnut, bronze, black, clay, stone or custom finishes. Grids can be colonial, prairie or none, flat or contoured, and sealed between the panes.

Four things, in the order they matter: opening count and size, frame material, glass package, and what is behind the wall. Everything is itemised opening by opening on your quote, so you can see where the money goes and phase the work if needed.

Everything we hang carries a Miami-Dade NOA or a Florida Product Approval rated at or above your address’s requirement. Every window replacement in Lee and Collier is permitted, and we pull it, including engineering where needed and meeting the inspector at final.

Impact windows explained

What are impact windows
in Naples?

An impact window is a window built to be hit. Two panes of glass are bonded to a clear inner layer and set in a reinforced aluminium frame, so when a roof tile or a branch comes through at 140 mph the glass cracks but stays in the opening. The opening is what matters. Once wind gets inside a house, it lifts the roof from underneath.

In Naples that is not a preference. Collier County sits in a 150 mph design-wind-speed zone, and the Florida Building Code requires every opening on a home to be protected. Impact windows are the version you never have to go outside and deploy, and they earn their keep the other 360 days a year on road noise, UV fade and break-ins.

How it works

Our impact window process in Naples.

01

Free measure

We walk the house, measure every opening, and tell you what the code actually requires for your address. No obligation and no pressure.

02

Pick & permit

You choose type, frame and glass. We draw it, submit it, and pull the permit with Lee or Collier. Including engineering when an opening needs it.

03

Impact window install

Our own crew, usually one elevation a day. Old units hauled off, stucco patched, and the site swept before we leave each evening.

04

Inspection & paperwork

We meet the inspector at final, then hand you the NOA sheets and the closed permit for your records.

Ready to do this? Let’s get you a number.

Answer a few questions and you get a price on the spot. If you want it checked properly after that, we come out and measure every opening ourselves.

Credentials

Why us for impact windows.

Anybody can quote impact windows. These are the four things you can go and check on us yourself, before you sign anything.

Go and look at the windows

Ask us for addresses near you and we will give you them. Twenty years in three counties means there is almost certainly a house we glazed within a few miles of yours. Stand on the street and look at the sightlines, the frame colour and the stucco line around the opening, which is where a rushed install shows first.

You can come to the shop

One address in Bonita Springs, and it has not moved since 2005. Come and put your hands on a laminated unit before you buy one. An impact window is a twenty-year purchase and it is worth twenty minutes to see the frame and the glass edge in person rather than in a brochure.

The approval numbers go on your quote

Every window carries a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or a Florida Product Approval rated at or above what your address’s wind zone requires, and the specific numbers for your openings are printed on the quote. Most impact window quotes just say “impact rated” and leave it there, which tells you nothing about what you are actually getting.

There is exactly one company to call

The person who measures your openings is on our payroll, and so is the person who fits them. That matters more on windows than on almost anything else we do: a rated unit installed to the wrong fixing schedule is no longer a rated unit, and there is nobody to argue with about it later.

How we work

How we fit impact windows.

Five rules. Every one of them exists for the same reason: the day the wind arrives, your openings either hold or they do not.

01

Beat The Season

Custom impact windows are 6 to 10 weeks from the factory, and every Florida homeowner finds that out in June. We tell you the real lead time before you sign, not after, so you are ordering in the spring rather than hoping in September.

02

Straight Numbers

Impact windows are priced per opening, and every opening is on your quote with its own number. That lets you phase the work and means nobody gets a surprise on the last day when a rotten buck turns up.

03

We Handle The County

Every impact window replacement in Lee and Collier is permitted, and we pull it. Product approvals, engineering where an opening needs it, and standing there at final.

04

Nothing Unrated Goes On Your House

Every window carries a Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval rated at or above what your address needs, and the numbers are printed on your quote. We do not drop to a lower-rated unit to win a bid.

05

Finished Means Finished

Sealed, shimmed and fastened to the manufacturer’s schedule, stucco patched, old units hauled off, glass cleaned. An impact window that is nearly sealed is an impact window with a path for water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to your impact window questions. No contractor games or hidden fluff, just the facts about how we protect your Florida home.

How does Sunshine State differ from other contractors?

We aren’t storm chasers. We are local owners working out of one shop in Bonita Springs, and we measure, permit, install and warranty every job with our own crew. Nothing is handed to a sub that leaves the county after season.
