Window replacement is the same job as an impact window install, come at from the other end. You are not adding protection to a new build, you are taking out something that has failed and putting in something that is rated for your address.
Same choices as any impact window. Laminated glass as standard, low-E where the sun lands, aluminum or vinyl frames. The one extra decision on a replacement is whether to keep the existing opening size or change it, because widening an opening is a structural job and narrowing one is a stucco job.
Frame finishes per elevation. White, linen, almond, sandstone, oak, walnut, bronze, black, clay, stone or custom. If you are replacing a few windows at a time rather than the whole house, we record the finish so the next batch matches the first.
How many openings and how big. Then the glass and frame you pick. Replacement has one cost a new build does not, which is whatever is behind the old frame. A sound block opening is straightforward, and rot or a bad previous install is not. We look before we quote so there are no change orders later.
Replacement windows are permitted in Lee and Collier the same as any other opening. Every unit carries a Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval rated for your address, and the numbers go on your quote. We pull the permit and meet the inspector.

Most of what we pull out is one of three things. Single pane aluminum from before the code changed, double pane units where the seal has gone and the glass has fogged, or vinyl warped enough that the sash no longer closes square. All three are a permitted job in Lee and Collier, whatever anyone tells you, and all three go back in as laminated impact glass.
The payoff shows up on the power bill and in the quiet. New laminated units seal properly, so the air conditioning stops leaking out the gaps, the road noise drops, and the UV fade on your floors stops getting worse. A house full of failed windows is working against you every single day.
