Storm Damage Repair

Storm Damage Repair for Southwest Florida

Broken glass, blown out frames and failed shutters after a storm. We board it, we quote it, and we fix it.

Storm damage to an opening comes in three grades. Glass broken but the frame intact, which is a glass job. Frame moved or pulled out of the opening, which is a replacement. Or the opening itself damaged, which is a structural job before it is a window job.

Board up first if the opening is open. Then either a glass only repair where the frame is sound, or a full replacement where it is not. If you are replacing anyway, this is usually the moment to go to impact rated rather than putting back what was there.

What grade of damage it is. Glass only with a sound frame is the cheapest thing we do. A full replacement is a normal replacement. Damage to the opening itself is quoted separately because it is a different trade before it is ours. You get it itemized so you can see which is which.

Anything we put back carries a Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval rated for your address, and replacement work is permitted in Lee and Collier the same as any other job. We document the work, which matters if there is a claim involved.

What storm damage repair covers explained

What storm damage repair covers for Florida homes?

Storm damage to an opening comes in three grades. Glass broken but the frame intact, which is a glass job. Frame moved or pulled out of the opening, which is a replacement. Or the opening itself damaged, which is a structural job before it is a window job.

The thing that matters in the first day or two is getting the opening closed so nothing else gets in. After that there is no rush to make a bad call. What counts is that whatever goes back is rated for your wind zone, permitted, and documented, because that is what you will need if there is a claim.

It is also the moment to stop patching. If the frame is coming out anyway, this is the cheapest chance you will get to move that opening up to impact rated instead of putting back the same thing that just failed. Most people take it once they see the price difference.

How it works

Our storm damage process.

1.

Call us and we come out

First job is getting the opening closed. We assess what grade of damage it is while we are there.

2.

You get a written assessment

What is glass, what is frame, what is structure. Itemized, so you know what you are looking at.

3.

We pull the permit if it needs one

Glass only repairs usually do not. Anything involving the frame does, and we handle it.

4.

We fix it and document it

Our own crew. Photos and paperwork on completion, because you may need them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to your What storm damage repair covers questions. No contractor games or hidden costs.

How does Sunshine State differ from other contractors?

We aren’t storm chasers. We are local owners working out of one shop in Bonita Springs, and we measure, permit, install and warranty every job with our own crew. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor who leaves the county after season.

Both meet code. Impact windows are permanent: nothing to put up, nothing to store, and they also help with noise, UV and security. Shutters and screens cost less up front and work well for lanais and large slider runs, but someone has to close them before a storm. Many homes use a combination of both.

Yes, for anything that changes an opening, in both Lee and Collier. We pull it, we submit the product approvals and we meet the inspector at final. You do not deal with the county.

Most of Bonita Springs, Estero and Fort Myers is in a 150 mph design-wind-speed zone, with higher requirements along the coast and barrier islands. Every product we install carries a Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval that meets or exceeds the requirement for your address.

Custom units run six to ten weeks from the factory. Install is usually one to three days depending on how many openings. We tell you the real lead time before you sign, not after.

We serve Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties, including Bonita Springs, Naples, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Marco Island, Sanibel and Captiva, Punta Gorda and nearby communities. See the full service area.
