A slider that drags is almost never a broken door. It is one of three parts. The rollers have worn flat, the track is dented or packed with grit, or the door has dropped out of adjustment.
Roller replacement is the common fix. Track repair or a track cap where the aluminum is dented. Handle and lock replacement where the multipoint has failed. Full realignment where the door has dropped but the parts are still good.
Which part it is. Rollers are the cheapest and the most common. Track work costs more because it is slower. A full handle and multipoint lock is the dearest part here and still a fraction of a new door. If the frame itself has gone we tell you, because at that point repair stops being the right answer.
Servicing an existing door does not need a permit. Nothing about the opening or the rated assembly changes. If the door turns out to need replacing, that becomes a permitted job and we say so before any work starts.

Fixed properly it changes how you live with the room. A door that opens with one finger gets opened, so the lanai actually gets used, and a lock that lines up again is a slider you can leave shut and trust overnight. None of that needs a new door if the frame and glass are still good.
