Every opening on a Southwest Florida home has to be protected to the wind speed at its address. That means impact glass or a rated shutter or screen on every window and every door.
Lee and Collier counties sit in a 150 mph design wind speed zone, and the coast and barrier islands are rated higher again. The code applies per opening, so a partial job is still a permitted job.
Everything that goes in carries a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or a Florida Product Approval rated at or above what your address needs, and the approval numbers go on the permit. That is the paper trail that matters when you sell or file a claim.
